About Us

We are a sea kayaking and adventure holiday centre based in Playa Blanca, in the south of Lanzarote and are open from September to May. We specialise in guided trips for small groups, exploring the lesser known areas of Lanzarote and the Chinijo Archipelago in the North. Lanzarote is an outstanding area of the Canaries in which to paddle. The ecologically sustainable relationship that the local people have with their environment, along with measures that have long been in place to conserve the ecosystems and landscapes led to the island and its archipelago being declared a Biosphere Reserve in 1993. The pristine environment is a joy to discover, above the water in the kayak and below the water with a snorkel mask. We strive to ensure our activites have a minimal impact on the environment. To this end, we supply drinking water for your trips in clean recycled containers which are secured to your kayak, not the throwaway plastic one-time use bottles which can so often be seen floating in the seas. And if we do come across any plastic floating around on our trips, we pick it up and we encourage you to do the same, whether it's floating in the sea or lying on the beach!

The equipment we supply is from some of the best brands, such as Nigel Dennis, Celtic, P&H, Peak UK and Palm and our kayaks are very stable and enjoyable to paddle.

We customise your trips according to the days you have available to paddle and your level of experience. For those who are less experienced, we offer a full paddling instruction before the trip. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and passion for sea kayaking and the environment with our clients so much and we look forward to welcoming you to Lanzarote so you can return home with wonderful memories of this unique place.

Juan Valencia

Juan has been involved in the outdoors all his life and has a particular love of the mountains and the sea. This led to him pursuing a career in guiding and becoming a fully qualified sea kayaking and hiking guide. Originally from Bilbao, Juan came to the Canary Islands in 2002, attracted by the warm weather and the surf. Since then he has built up an expert knowledge of the area and its swells, various currents and wind conditions.

Juan is a BCU 5 Star Sea Kayaking Guide/Advanced Sea Kayak Leader, a Spanish TD2 (the highest qualification available) Sea Kayaking guide, a qualified UKCC level 2 coach, a certified Beach Lifeguard and an International Hiking Guide and has been running sea kayaking trips in the Canaries since 2009. He has paddled in many different places such as the UK, Northern Spain, Hawaii and the Mediterranean. He also completed the ISKGA Incident Management and Sea Survival training in Cornwall. It's not all about the sea though; Juan's love of the mountains has led him along many trails in the Pyrenees, Carpathians, Rockies, Himalayas, Alps, Indonesia and in his native Northern Spain. Juan is fluent in Spanish and English and is looking forward to sharing his passion for adventure with you.

Sarah Locke

Sarah is our resident zoologist and has a love for all wildlife, but has a particular interest in and specialist knowledge of birds. If you've subscribed to the mailing list you might be familiar with her occasional fascinating articles about the wildlife and ecology of the island, to which she brings so much enthusiasm and detail.

Sarah enjoys being active and loves travelling and being outdoors, whether on the water or hiking in the hills. She splits her time between Lanzarote where she kayaks and Glasgow where she spends her time rowing which involves a lot of travelling backwards and not looking where she's going. She competes, trains hard and also spent several years captaining, coaching and developing a rowing club almost from the ground up. She is a qualified UKCC level 2 coach. Her friendly coaching style and unique ability to help people enjoy themselves and adapt her coaching to different people and situations has always proved highly successful. Sarah is also a professional artist specialising in higly detailed wildlife drawings, which you can take a look at on her website here. She has an infectious passion and zest for life which rubs off on those around her and looks forward to welcoming you to Lanzarote.
